Friends of Watermark

Friends of Watermark include former employees, oft-seen customers, and some younger readers. They too have favorite books and contribute reviews from time to time.

Vicki worked at Watermark for 15 years, after working in libraries for several decades. Originally from Mt Vernon, she lived in the Bay Area, New York, Paris, Bonn and Cuba, before settling in Anacortes. By her own reckoning she still spends "a good part" of her time in the bookstore. Her favorite authors include Ivan Doig, James Lee Burke, Jim Harrison, Alice Munro, C.J. Box, Lee Child, Colin Cotterill and Jo Nesbo. She is hopeful that her grandson, Wynn, will develop into a book lover also!

CarolynCarolyn was a bookseller for 20 years and suffers existential discomfort if she doesn’t have something good to read. In 2010 she left Watermark to work full-time at Bikespot, the Anacortes bicycle shop she owns with her partner Nick. She still tries to sell at least one book every time she visits Watermark.

Lady Sasquatch: Not all bookstores have a sasquatch, let alone one with literary tastes! Ours hangs out around the corner in the alley and reads new books every month or two, as recommended by her artist friend (and creator) Christine Olsen. Check her out on Facebook at Lady Sasquatch.
