This book shop has been a part of this community for over 35 years. My name is Brandy Bowen, and I bought the store from the original owner in 2018. I take my work inside this community very personally. I strive to create a safe and inclusive place for our shoppers. I am a community member, and I want to be part of a community that cares and makes a difference.
I LOVE owning this bookshop. It is a very exciting and exhausting job. Everyday is new, fun, and interesting. I am married to Ben, and he works for the Washington State Ferries. I have 4 kids–they range in ages 8 years to 21 years old. I like to visit with friends and try new foods. I like dark beers…really dark beers. I love to crochet, read, and roller skate. I like to hike and ride my bicycle. I LOVE to travel! In the last 10 years I have been to Ireland, Iceland, Denmark, Italy, Banff (Canada), Scotland, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. We often bugger off to Hawaii for a little reprieve and some sunshine.
I will read just about anything; however, if I don’t like something I’m reading, I give myself permission to stop. I really enjoy nonfiction, memoir, and horror. Click on my section below to see some of my favorite books and what I am currently reading.
